Visual. Style. Inspiration.

My blog has a new home!!

Hello lovely followers…

I have finally made my trek across the country and back to Massachusetts. It was rad and I’ll be posting about it on my new blog, Style to Glow! I actually transferred almost all of my posts from here onto the new blog so all of the content will still be there.

Why the change? Well, I wanted my new blog to incorporate more health and nutrition related posts and I felt like I needed to change the name to reflect that. If you have the time, you can check out the About page and if you like where the blog will be heading, then please follow!

I hope to see you all over there :)

xo,

Let Your Sequins Show

IMG_3717IMG_3714IMG_3716

I’ve been slacking on my blog lately but for a good reason. I’ve decided to move back to MA for at least 6 months to take care of my Mom and to start studying Holistic Nutrition. It’s a major decision and quite wild but I tend to be spontaneous and enjoy change so I’m pretty excited about it. I will most likely be starting a new blog that incorporates both fashion and health/nutrition and also fun projects that I’ll be doing with my Mom (who is super creative). I will post details about the new blog once I get it going and I hope you guys will follow it!

Soooo, about my outfit. Well, this is what happens when you really need to do laundry…you pull out the stuff you typically never wear. I layered a vintage Narciso Rodriguez sequin tank over a black lace slip. It looked too sexy for where I was going so I added this casual, striped tank over it and finished with a leather jacket (of course). I was pretty excited to bust out my Alexander Wang heels (that never see the light of day). I recently got my hair highlighted too! I totally splurged and went to Ken Paves Salon in Beverly Hills. I highly recommend going to Joey for hair color etc. He is an amazing person and super talented…definitely worth the splurge.

Caged & Studded

Adding a studded leather jacket to your outfit is usually a good idea…especially over a black dress with caged detailing. What I love about this dress is that the silhouette is cute and feminine while the cutout details make it a headturner. As always, I like adding an edgier vibe to my looks rather than making them too sexy so I added this badass studded leather jacket, silver cross necklace, head chain and rhinestone ear cuff.

Vegan Veggie Roll-up

Vegan Veggie Roll-up

This is a super yummy sandwich that I found on pinterest one day and decided to make for lunch (originally pinned from FitSugar which is a great site for recipes and healthy tips). I tend to eat a lot of salads but that can get boring and I always end up eating some kind of dessert after because I have room in my belly for it. This veggie sandwich is pretty hearty and packed with protein so it really fills you up. I usually eat half and then save the other half for lunch the next day. I’ll probably still eat some kind of dessert after…who am I kidding? Actually, on a side note, I recently discovered that Medjool Dates make a great healthy dessert. I bought some to use in a recipe and ended up eating one after dinner and it totally satisfied my sweet tooth!

So I got all of the ingredients from Trader Joes and below you can see how I made my vegan veggie roll-up. I’m not going to write out how I made the wrap because the pictures say it all…but in the second photo, I put a little bit of olive oil and herbs on the wrap to start.

Catch Me Slippin

free people dressMy friends and I spent this past weekend at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs and had a great time! I’m obsessed with the Ace Hotel by the way. It has a free-spirited flair with great decor, super friendly staff and a yummy restaurant. If you ever go to Palm Springs and are looking for a more laid-back, hipster vibe then I definitely recommend staying here.

In the heat of the summer, I tend to live in slip dresses. They’re easy to wear, great at keeping you cool and look cute & feminine. For my trip I packed 2 bathing suits, 3 slip dresses and 2 pairs of sandals…that’s it. One of my favorites is this pale yellow, voile and lace slip dress from Free People. I wore it with a white strapless bodysuit from American Apparel for the day and I also used it as a bathing suit cover-up at the pool. It will make a good layering piece too at some point…(I have a vision of it looking great with my brown over-the-knee boots and a snuggly cardigan).

Vegan Swiss Chard Wraps

vegan swiss chard wrapsvegan swiss chard wrapsvegan swiss chard wrapsI am so happy that I got to spend over 2 weeks back in Massachusetts with my family. For anyone that doesn’t know, my mom has breast cancer and is currently recovering from her 2nd surgery. It meant the world to me that I was able to help out with the cooking, cleaning, laundry and taking my mom to her doctors appointments. I swear to god, this trip really brought out my maternal instincts!

I was also really excited to share some of my healthy recipes with them. My mom has committed to losing weight and my Dad wants to be a positive support so hopefully I was able to help. I had always wanted to try making one of these leafy wraps but I never got around to it. This was my first attempt and they came out pretty damn good! This is how I made them:

Blanch the swiss chard leaves (bring water to a boil, then put the leaves in for like 2-3 minutes)
Place the leaves in an ice bath to stop them from cooking (big bowl of ice water)
Lay the leaves out and pat them dry, squeezing out the excess water
Cut out the spines so that you have two halves, then overlap them
Put the filling in the middle of the leaf
For the filling, I used:
Roasted red pepper hummus
quinoa
black beans
shredded carrots
cucumbers
tomatos
Then, wrap them up tucking in the sides as you go…yum!

Fringe Benefits

Neon fringe skirt & cream knit sweater

IMG_0963

IMG_0962This neon pink, fringe skirt is one of those things that you’re drawn to and kinda like but never buy because you have absolutely no clue how you would wear it. Well, let me help you:

1. Wear it like me – Pair it with a cream colored loose knit top and some tan platform ankle boots. Make it fun by adding a pair of blue mirror lenses. Complete the look with unwashed hair thrown up into a messy bun.
2. Wear it like a rockstar – Throw on your favorite band tee, a few silver necklaces and a leather jacket. Wear it with some badass ankle boots and finish it off with a smokey cat eye and nude lip.
3. Wear it like an Orange County girl – Choose a sexy white top that’s low cut…maybe even backless. Wear it with a gold belt and your favorite nude Louboutins. Top off the look with some gold jewelry, a Louis Vuitton bag, hair extensions and fake eyelashes.

There you have it…no excuses…buy that statement skirt.
